The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) hosts the 3PAR Regional Championships, a prestigious event that brings together talented young markspersons from three regions across the United States. These championships serve as a stepping stone for aspiring shooters, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills, compete at a high level, and potentially advance to the National Championship.
Format and Selection
Regional Locations: The CMP 3PAR Regional Championships take place in three locations on two separate weekends. These locations are:
- Northeast Region: Camp Perry, Ohio
- Southeast Region: Anniston, Alabama
- Western Region: Sandy, Utah
Qualification Process:
- Athletes qualify for the regional championships through the CMP Postal match.
- The top teams and individuals from each region based on postal match results receive invitations.
- Teams and individuals will be selected by regions based on their state affiliation.
Competition Details:
- Each competitor participates in two 3×20 competitions, firing a total of 60 shots.
- The top eight individuals in both the sporter and precision categories advance to the final.
- Only one alternate is allowed per team (total of 5 competitors).
- Individuals from non-qualifying teams may also receive invitations.
Awards and Advancement:
- Awards are given at each regional championship based on that location’s results.
- Results from all three regional championships are combined to determine which teams and individuals advance to the National Championship.
